A Poem About Words

I tend to keep things. Because of this, I have a couple of flash-drives containing old poems, stories, pictures, etc. to make room on my computer. It's a win-win, because I'm de-cluttering, yet I get to keep my documents. As I was looking through one of my flash-drives today, I found this poem below. It was written about 2-3 years ago.

Isn’t it amazing how

beautiful words sound together?

Alone, they are nouns, pronouns, etc.

but together, now there’s something

different.

Words can inspire.

They create a burn in

the pit

of your stomach.

They cause you

to act.

Or at least have the longing to.

Why don’t we go off of feelings?

That’s something us as a people

have tried to overcome.

“Don’t be led by feelings.

Follow facts and stats, those set in

stone.”

That’s all you can trust

now isn’t it?
